School Facilities Update

Building work has been completed at Casuarina Senior College. The work included constructing a new multipurpose room and sports pavilion, extending the student counsellor’s area, alterations to the canteen, four new modern modular classrooms, a new bike shelter, alterations to toilets, a new double computer classroom in the library, alterations to the bookroom, an upgrade of the main switchboard, and traffic management works to ensure safe drop-off points.

Two Henbury School outreach classrooms have been constructed at Dripstone High School.

Stage One of the new Darwin Middle School will open in 2008 ready for Year 7 and Year 8 students...more. The following year, the new middle school will have students from Year 7 to Year 9.

In 2007, Darwin High School will continue to cater for Year 8 to 12 students.

In 2009, Darwin High School will become a Senior Years School for students in Years 10 to 12.
Darwin Middle School

Darwin Middle School will be officially opened in 2008 for students in Years 7 and 8. From 2009 the new school will cater for students in Years 7 to 9.
Nightcliff High School

In 2008, Nightcliff High School will become a middle school for students in Years 7 to 9.

Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 joined Darwin High School in 2007.
Dripstone High School

In 2008, Dripstone High School will become a middle school for students in Years 7 to 9.

Sanderson High School

In 2008, Sanderson High School will become a middle school for students in Years 7 to 9.

Casuarina Senior College

Casuarina Senior College is a dedicated school for the Senior Years. From 2007, Casuarina Senior College caters for students in Years 10 to 12.

All special schools/annexes with students in Years 7 to 9 will deliver a Middle Years program.

In 2007, Acacia Hill and Henbury Schools established a Senior Years sub school for students in Years 10 to 12.

In 2008, Acacia Hill and Henbury Schools will establish a Middle Years sub school for students in Years 7 to 9.
Priority Enrolment Areas

Middle schools and senior schools/ colleges will give priority enrolment to students who live in the local area. Enrolment in middle schools and senior schools or colleges outside the local area will be accomodated only if that school has sufficient space.
